Shanghai Wu Mengchao Medical Science Foundation (WMSF), established on June 1st 2004, is a non-profit organization with legal entity of social organization authorized by competent government agency as per Regulations on the Registration and Administration of Social Organizations and Regulations on Foundation Administration. Shanghai Wu Mengchao Medical Science Foundation upholds its missions to highlight the spirit of academician Wu Mengchao that he is always exploring unknown areas, committed to innovation, never stops learning new things and always strives to take the lead, so as to facilitate the medical technology of China.

Professor Wu Mengchao is an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, a well-known expert of hepatobiliary surgery and one of the pioneers of China’s hepatobiliary surgery cause. In the past several years, professor received wide appraise and respect for his medical skills and moral. Since March 1997, professor Wu established Wu Mengchao Hepatobiliary Surgery Foundation using his private savings fund sponsored by social organizations and individuals from home and abroad. This foundation has presented awards to a group of talents who had significant contribution to the clinical medicine and fundamental researches. In 2004, Shanghai Wu Mengchao Medical Science Foundation was officially founded under the authorization of Shanghai municipal government.

WMSF is a non-profit organization serving the medical science cause. The Foundation is committed to protecting the health of all people in China. Health is the foundation for the overall national strength and national spirit of a country, and healthcare is a common cause of the entire Chinese people.
